Which signatures can be removed, and which cannot
Whether a signature can be deleted has nothing to do with how it looks and everything to do with how it got into the file. There are two cases and they behave completely differently.
Signatures that are objects in the file
A digital signature applied by Acrobat, DocuSign, Preview or any e-signing service exists as a distinct thing in the PDF's structure: an AcroForm signature field, a signature widget annotation, or a stamp annotation carrying an image of a signature. These can be identified and removed exactly, leaving the rest of the page byte-for-byte as it was. Signature fields that were never signed — the empty boxes a template carries — are in the same category and are removed the same way.
Signatures that are part of the page
If the document is a scan of a signed sheet, or the signature image was flattened into the page content when the file was produced, then the ink is the same pixels as the paper around it. There is no object to delete. Removing it would mean painting over the area and inventing what was underneath, which is what other tools sell as removal and what this one will not do. The scan says so rather than producing a smudged page and calling it success.
You can tell which you have before loading anything: open the PDF in a reader and try to select or click the signature. If it highlights as a field, or a properties panel appears, it is an object. If nothing happens and it behaves exactly like the rest of the page, it is part of the image.
Removing a signature invalidates the rest of them
This is worth knowing before you start. A digital signature is a cryptographic assertion about the exact bytes of the document at the moment it was signed. Change anything at all — including removing a different signature — and every remaining signature's validation fails, because the document is no longer the one that was signed. That is the mechanism working correctly, not a defect, and it is not something any tool can avoid. A document that needs to be re-signed after editing has to be re-signed properly.
When you actually want something else
If the goal is a clean copy of the form to send to someone else, taking the signature out of a signed one is the harder route — go back to the blank template, or build a fresh fillable version. If the goal is to hide personal details rather than a signature, redaction removes the underlying text permanently rather than deleting an annotation. And if it is a watermark rather than a signature, that has its own page, with the same honest split between what can and cannot be removed.
