Create a document you can check before sharing
Paste your notes, write in the editor, or open a UTF-8 or UTF-16 TXT file. The preview renders the actual generated PDF, including page breaks, fonts and page numbers. Use its arrow buttons to inspect each page. Changing the text or any layout setting disables the old download until the new PDF is ready.
From text to a finished PDF
- Add the text. Open TXT file or drop one onto the editor. File import adds text at your selection; it does not silently replace an existing draft. Try an example inserts a short formatted note.
- Shape the document. Select text and choose Bold or Italic. Heading, List and Center apply to the selected lines. The editor shows the formatting markers; the PDF preview shows their effect. Turn off Read formatting markers when asterisks and other markers should appear literally.
- Set the layout. Choose A4, US Letter or US Legal, orientation, margins, font, size, spacing and alignment. Courier keeps repeated spaces useful for logs and simple aligned text. Tabs become four spaces.
- Check and download. Review the exact page count and navigate to the last page. Set the filename, then download. The PDF contains selectable text; it is not a screenshot of the editor.
Formatting and language support
Supported markers are #, ## and ### headings; **bold**, *italic* and ***bold italic***; bullets, numbered lists; and [center]text[/center]. Other Markdown syntax, such as tables or links, stays as typed. Pasting from Word imports plain text, not the original layout. Long URLs and unbroken strings wrap within the page margins.
The built-in Helvetica, Times and Courier PDF fonts support Latin text, including many common accents, and standard punctuation. Urdu, Arabic, other non-Latin scripts and emoji require fonts this tool does not include. Unsupported characters produce an explanation and remain in the editor so you can correct the text or export it from a word processor that supports the language.
Working with larger notes
The tool accepts a TXT file up to 1 MB and documents up to 200,000 characters after tabs are expanded, with at most 250 output pages. These are application guards, not a guarantee that every phone can handle the maximum. Split long documents into sections if your device struggles. Clear removes the draft; Undo clear restores it until you start another edit. The draft is kept only in this tab, so save your work before closing or refreshing the page.
If the preview cannot load
Check the visible message and retry Refresh preview. Processing code must finish loading before the PDF can be created. If only preview rendering fails, the generated PDF can still be downloaded and checked in a PDF reader. A connection may be needed to load the code; offline availability is not guaranteed. Selected text is processed locally and is not submitted to a QuickMerge conversion server. See the privacy policy for site analytics and network details.

What actually happens when you convert a text document to PDF
A plain text file has no pages, no margins and no fonts — it is a stream of characters. Converting it to PDF means deciding all of that, which is why the same source file can produce very different documents.
Text files carry no layout, so the layout is yours to set
A .txt file records characters and line breaks and nothing else. When you convert txt to PDF, the page size, typeface, point size, margins and spacing are all being chosen at that moment rather than read from the file. That is a feature when you want a clean A4 or Letter document out of a Notepad note, and a surprise when you expected the PDF to look like it did in your editor, where the wrapping came from the editor's own window width.
Check long lines and characters
The export applies its own wrapping and page layout. Inspect long URLs, indentation, blank lines and the final line in the saved PDF. Supported fonts and complex-script behavior limit which source characters can be represented correctly.
An app’s Print workflow may suit an existing layout
Print to PDF can preserve the source app’s layout. This tool is for plain text with page settings. Options and save locations vary by platform and application.
The text stays in the tab
The browser assembles the PDF without uploading text to a processing server. Downloading does not clear the input; clear the text or close the tab when finished. Optional analytics uses Privacy settings.
